Stay with Impact: Hotel Hive

In the heart of DC's Foggy Bottom neighborhood, Hotel Hive is proving that a hotel doesn't need a big footprint to make a big impact. As the city's first micro-hotel, Hotel Hive is known for cozy rooms and bigger, buzzworthy experiences — and lately, some of that buzz is coming from the purpose-driven products filling its shelves.

Through its partnership with Procure Impact, Hotel Hive has woven a collection of mission-driven brands into its guest experience, such as samplers from Hon's Honey, delicate caramel-filled chocolates from Chouquette, and custom magnets from Hands Producing Hope. Each one carries a story. Together, they've become part of what makes a stay at Hotel Hive feel like more than just a relaxing getaway, but an experience they can take home with them.

A Hive Built on Community

Hotel Hive is part of PM Hotel Group, a hospitality group with deep roots in wanting its properties to feel connected to the neighborhoods around them. That value shows up in how the hotel thinks about everything from its rooftop bar to its guest amenities.

Recently, two Procure Impact interns had the chance to visit Hotel Hive in person and sit down with Kara Wohlfahrt, the property's Front Office Manager, to talk about what that connection means to her team.

“PM Hotel Group wants to be connected with local companies and a tie-in community behind the amenities we offer,” Kara shared. “We want to have meaning behind everything we do.”

That intentionality is exactly what drew Hotel Hive to Procure Impact in the first place.

Purpose in Every Product

For Kara, the appeal of Procure Impact isn't just the bespoke, ready-to-sell products — it's the people and missions behind them.

“Procure Impact is a really special company we partner with,” she said.

“Each different partner we have, whether it's Hon's Honey or Chouquette, they have different purposes behind them — whether it's learning disabilities, women, refugees — and it's really special and ties into our ethos as a company and who we are and what we believe in.”

A Partnership That Delivers

Beyond the products themselves, Kara pointed to the relationship with the Procure Impact team as a real differentiator.

“The contacts we've had with Procure Impact have been super helpful in making those client connections and making the right partners,” she said. “Whatever our creative vision's been, they've been able to offer it to us.”

It's a sentiment echoed across the Procure Impact partner network — that thoughtful sourcing works best when it's collaborative, not transactional. And for Hotel Hive's guests, the impact of that collaboration is easy to feel.

“People connect with the missions behind partners,” Kara said. It's a simple idea, but a powerful one: intentional, small touches seamlessly turn a stay into a story guests want to share.

Small Hotel, Big Heart

Hotel Hive may be DC's smallest hotel by square footage, but its commitment to purpose-driven partnerships is anything but small. By choosing products with real stories behind them, Hotel Hive has turned everyday touchpoints — from a welcome gift, lobby offering, or a parting gesture — into moments of genuine connection between guests and the communities Procure Impact's suppliers serve.

Thank you to Kara Wohlfahrt and the entire Hotel Hive team for showing what it means to #staywithimpact — and for proving that even in 125 square feet, there's room for a whole lot of purpose.
