On the Job with Diana

Warehouse Manager and 2023 Graduate of Thistle Farms

At Procure Impact, we partner with vendors that employ individuals overcoming significant barriers to work. By sharing their journeys, we aim to highlight how your purchases directly empower lives and build brighter futures.

Tell us your name and where you work?

My name is Diana and I work at Thistle Farms

How did you feel when you first landed this job?

When I first got this job there was a mixture of excitement and fear.  It had been a very long time since I had been employed so I was nervous for sure, but I was made to feel so welcomed and just embraced with love so that really made a difference.

Tell us what your typical day at Thistle Farms looks like.

I clock in, check to see if any orders are waiting on products, communicate with the Logistics and Manufacturing department to see if they need anything as far as inventory goes. I do receiving throughout the day as deliveries come in, make sure both raw materials and finished goods are stocked and ready to be used. I communicate with our Lifecycle manager as well as our procurement team to see what is coming up and then just take it as it comes.

How has your future changed because of this opportunity?

Before this opportunity, I was completely unemployable and now I am a warehouse manager with 4 years on the job and last April I became a first-time homeowner.

What is your favorite item that you sell and why?

My favorite item it the candle. I love the scents of all of them but for me, it is a symbol of hope.  We light a candle for the woman still on the street so they can find their way home. When I walked in the door of the safe house at Thistle Farms the first word one of the women said was "We are glad you are here, we have been lighting the candle for you". It was powerful to me but meant so very much.

What's your favorite thing about working at Thistle Farms?

I get the privilege of working with the new ladies when they start their job training.  The hope and excitement I see when they learn new things or complete a task is an amazing feeling to me. I get to be a part of their journey and I am so grateful for that.

What do you want to do next, after Thistle Farms?

Not sure if there will be an after Thistle Farms for me. My plan is to retire from Thistle Farms but I will definitely stay very connected with the community.  They are my family.

What would you tell people considering buying your products?

I would tell them that the quality of the products are amazing and they will love them and even better is every purchase helps another woman start the journey of getting her life and future back.
